General Terms and Conditions

Valid as of 1 February 2026

Scope of Application

These General Terms and Conditions apply to all offers made by Alemania Deutschschule AG (hereinafter referred to as “Alemania”), unless otherwise agreed in written form.

Registration

The following shall be deemed to be a legally valid registration:

the signed registration/continuation form
the online registration on our homepage
the offer accepted online or by e-mail

A legally valid registration constitutes an obligation to pay for the booked service. Non-payment does not constitute cancellation.

Course Model, Due Dates and Instalment Payments

Language Courses

A language course at Alemania comprises one complete level (A1–C2).

Language courses A1–B1 consist of 3 modules of 40 hours each (total 120 hours).
Language courses B2–C2 consist of 4 modules of 40 hours each (total 160 hours).

Upon registration, the participant books the first module. Unless written notice of cancellation is received at least 7 calendar days before the end of the module, the language course will automatically continue until all modules of the respective level have been completed.

Module fees are payable before the start of each module. Payment by instalments may be agreed. In this case, the first installment must be paid before the module begins and the last installment before the module ends. Alemania reserves the right to charge an administrative fee for instalment payments.

Other Course Offers

In addition to language courses, Alemania offers other courses, in particular exam preparation courses, conversation courses, and private lessons. These courses are not part of the modular language course model and are not subject to automatic renewal.

The course fee must be paid before the course begins. Payment by instalments may be agreed. In this case, the first instalment must be paid before the start of the course and the final instalment before the end of the course. Alemania reserves the right to charge an administrative fee for instalment payments.

Exams

Exams will be invoiced to the customer after booking. Exam fees must be paid before the exam, otherwise the participant will not be admitted to the exam.

Prices and Discounts

The listed prices are binding. Modules, courses and exam fees are exempt from VAT.

Alemania accepts the “KulturLegi”, which must be presented at registration at the reception. “KulturLegi” cards presented after the start of a module or course will not be accepted.

Promotional and corporate discounts must be claimed at the time of booking. Alemania is not obliged to inform participants about any ongoing promotions or discounts.

All discounts are valid only for complete modules and courses paid in advance. Discounts cannot be combined.

Course Materials

Course materials are not included in the module or course fees. They will be handed out on the first day of the module or course, after payment.

Reminder Fees

In the event of late payment, Alemania reserves the right to charge reminder fees.

Entry After Module or Course Start

If places are available, participants may join an ongoing module or course at any time. The module or course fee will be calculated on a pro rata basis from the date of entry.

Cancellation

Cancellations may be made as follows:

Booked modules, courses and SDS exams may be cancelled up to the 9th calendar day before the start of the module, course or exam. For later cancellations, the full amount is due.
Telc and fide exams may be cancelled up to the 21st calendar day before the exam. For later cancellations, the full amount is due.
Private lessons may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance. For later cancellations, the full amount is due.

Amounts already paid may be fully credited toward another module, course or exam. In the event of a refund, Alemania reserves the right to charge an administrative fee. All cancellations must be made in writing.

Absences / Vacations

As a rule, missed module, course or exam days will not be refunded and cannot be compensated. This also applies in cases of illness or accident. Exceptions apply in the following cases:

Modules/Courses: If absences of at least 10 consecutive module or course hours, or two consecutive Saturdays, are announced in writing at least 9 calendar days before the start of the module or course, or if a medical certificate is provided covering illness or accident of at least the same duration, Alemania will issue a credit. This credit may be applied to future modules, courses or exams.
Exams: Upon presentation of a medical certificate for the day of the exam, Alemania will issue a credit applicable to future modules, courses or exams.
In cases of other serious, unforeseeable absences, Alemania’s management may, at its discretion, offer a voluntary credit for a later module, course or exams.

Credits are non-transferable and valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

Cancellation / Changes

If there are insufficient registrations for a module, course or exam, or for other reasons beyond the school’s control, Alemania may cancel or reschedule the module, course or exam. In such cases, amounts already paid will be credited toward another module, course or exam or refunded. Any further claims, in particular claims for damage arising from changes or cancellations, are expressly excluded.

If a teacher is unavailable, the school management may assign a replacement teacher. If this is not possible for organizational reasons, the missed time or exam will generally be rescheduled. If rescheduling is not possible, amounts already paid will be credited toward another module, course or exam.

No reduction in fees is granted for lessons cancelled due to public holidays. Missed lessons will not be rescheduled and will be compensated through additional homework.

Module Repetition

Each participant is entitled to repeat a module of a modular language course once. If the participant has booked and paid for the entire module, only 50% of the fee for the newly booked repetition module will be charged if the booking is made within 4 months of the last attended module day. The booking date is decisive for the 4-month period.

Rights to Textbooks and Teaching Materials

All textbooks and teaching materials produced by Alemania are the intellectual property of Alemania. Any use outside of Alemania courses is prohibited without written consent. This applies in particular to use in other language courses, reproduction, translation, and processing in electronic systems.

Photo and Video Consent

By booking, participants agree that photos and videos may be taken and used by Alemania for marketing and advertising purposes, including social media and the website. A written objection prevents further use.

Final Provisions

Für Prüfungen gelten des Weiteren die jeweiligen Testreglemente und AGBs der Prüfungsanbieter.

Alemania accepts no liability for loss or theft of personal belongings brought onto or stored on the premises.

Participants are responsible for obtaining accident and liability insurance; Alemania assumes no liability in this regard.

This English version of the Terms and Conditions is a translation of the original German version. In the event of any discrepancies or inconsistencies, the German version shall prevail. Swiss law applies to all legal relationships. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich.

If individual provisions of these General Terms and Conditions are invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain in force.
